Everything you need to know about using WorshipSync with your worship team.
WorshipSync uses Google Sign-In — there are no separate usernames or passwords to manage. On the homepage, click Continue with Google and sign in with your Google account. That's it.
If you're signing in for the first time you'll be asked to set a nickname and choose your primary instrument before reaching the app.
Yes. First-time users are redirected to a short profile setup where you pick a nickname and your primary instrument. This helps your team identify you in live sets and groups. It takes less than 30 seconds.
You can update your nickname, instrument, bio, and location any time from Profile → Edit in the sidebar.
Yes — WorshipSync has a free plan that covers core features including adding songs, creating live sets, and using performance mode. Paid plans unlock additional features like the AI Chord Assistant, expanded song storage, and advanced group collaboration. Visit the Pricing page to compare plans.
WorshipSync is a web app that works on any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge on both desktop and mobile. No app download is needed.
For the best on-stage experience, we recommend using a tablet or laptop in landscape mode for performance view. The app is fully responsive and works on phones too.
Go to My Songs in the sidebar and click New Song. Fill in the title, artist, key, and BPM in the Details tab. Switch to the Editor tab to type or paste your chord chart in ChordPro format. Click Save when done.
On mobile, use the tabs at the top of the screen to switch between Details, Editor, and Preview.
ChordPro is a plain-text format where chords are placed inline with lyrics inside square brackets. For example:
[G]Amazing [C]grace, how [G]sweet the [D]sound
Sections are marked with tags:
{start_of_verse} / {end_of_verse}{start_of_chorus} / {end_of_chorus}{start_of_bridge} / {end_of_bridge}{comment: Tag} for any custom section labelBar lines for chord-only sections: | G | C | G | D |
The editor's Preview tab shows exactly how the chart will look on stage.
Open the song in Player / Performance Mode using the Player button on any song. Use the ▲ / ▼ transpose buttons in the top bar to shift the key up or down by semitones. The entire chart updates live.
Transposition is session-only — it never changes the original saved key. You can also transpose within a live set performance for each song individually.
If your songs are already in ChordPro format, paste them directly into the Editor. The title, artist, and key will be read from the ChordPro header tags automatically.
Use the Import Lyrics button in the editor to paste plain lyrics — WorshipSync will help you convert them. Direct sync with Planning Center or other platforms is not yet supported.
Songs are private by default. To publish a song to the WorshipSync Community library, open the song and toggle Publish. Published songs appear in the public library and on your profile page. You can unpublish at any time.
To share a song with a specific group only (without making it public), use the Groups feature instead.
Every time you save a song, WorshipSync automatically snapshots the chart. To view the history, open the song editor and click History in the top bar. You'll see a list of all saved versions with timestamps.
Click Restore on any revision to roll the chart back to that version. The restored content becomes the new draft — you still need to save it.
In the song editor, open the Details tab. You'll find fields for:
Tags can be used to quickly filter your song library.
Yes. In any live set, each song card shows a personal notes field — only you can see these. Use it for reminders like "capo 2", "watch the bridge tempo", or "vocalist leads the last chorus". Notes save automatically as you type.
Go to Live Sets in the sidebar and click New Set. Give it a name, add an optional service date and service label (e.g. "Sunday Morning"), then use the song picker to search and add songs from your library. Drag the handles to arrange the song order. Click Save when done.
In the live set editor, drag the ≡ handle on the left side of each song card to move it up or down. The new order is applied when you click Save.
In the live set editor, each song card has a Band Parts section. Click + Add Part to assign an instrument (Guitar, Keys, Drums, etc.) and a team member's name for that song. Parts are visible to the whole team in the set view and on stage.
When you open a live set, presence bubbles appear in the top-right corner of the page — each bubble shows the avatar of a team member currently viewing the same set. The list refreshes every 30 seconds. This is useful during rehearsal to see who has opened the set.
Yes. Scroll to the Team Notes section at the bottom of any live set page. Any team member with access can post a note visible to everyone. Great for rehearsal reminders, last-minute key changes, or service announcements.
The Key Flow panel on the live set page shows the key of each song in order and the interval between consecutive songs. Transitions are colour-coded:
Use this to plan a set that flows musically and doesn't jar the congregation with sudden key jumps.
There are two ways:
Both views are full-screen dark and designed for on-stage use.
Yes. The ▲ / ▼ transpose buttons in the performance bar shift the key up or down in real time. The chart updates instantly — every chord transposes together. The original saved key is never changed; transposition is live and session-only.
In a full set performance, each song can be transposed independently.
If a song has a BPM set, a metronome button appears in the performance bar. Tap it to start — the beat indicator flashes in time. You can also tap the BPM number to adjust the tempo for the current session. The metronome uses the Web Audio API for precise timing.
In performance mode, section names (Verse 1, Chorus, Bridge, etc.) appear as jump buttons in the navigation bar below the topbar. Tap any section name to scroll directly to it. This is useful for jumping to the bridge mid-song or repeating a section.
Once the page is fully loaded, the chart stays visible even if your connection drops — all the text and chords are already in the browser. Transposing and section navigation also continue to work offline.
Tip: Load the full set or all your songs before going on stage to avoid any last-minute connection issues.
Go to Groups in the sidebar and click New Group. Give it a name and an optional description (e.g. "Sunday Morning Team"). You're automatically the group owner. From the group page you can invite members and share songs and sets.
Open your group and go to the Members section. Enter the person's email address and choose their role, then click Invite. They'll receive a link they can click to join.
You can also copy the group invite link and send it via WhatsApp, email, or any messenger — anyone with the link can join.
The group owner has all admin rights plus the ability to delete the group.
Songs: Open the group page and use the Add Song button to pick from your library. Or open any song and use its Share to Group option.
Live sets: On any live set page, click the Share ↓ button in the hero area and select which group to share it with. All group members will then see it in their group page.
Go to the group page, open the Members section, find the person, and click Remove. They'll immediately lose access to all songs and live sets shared through that group.
The WorshipSync Community (found under the Community link in the sidebar) is a public library of chord charts shared by WorshipSync users around the world. You can browse, search, filter by key or tag, and play any song directly in the app.
You can also bookmark songs, leave comments, and follow worship leaders whose charts you find useful.
On any public song page, click the bookmark icon (🔖). Bookmarked songs are saved to your Bookmarks page (sidebar) for quick access. You can unbookmark at any time.
Yes. Visit any user's public profile page and click Follow. You'll be notified in your notification inbox whenever they publish a new song. You can unfollow at any time from their profile.
Community songs are shared by other WorshipSync users for reference and learning. Worship songs themselves are covered by their original copyright owners — always ensure your church has the appropriate CCLI licence before performing or projecting a song publicly.
WorshipSync displays CCLI numbers on songs where provided to help you track licensing.
The AI Assistant lives in the Preview panel of the song editor. It can:
All results are in ChordPro format and can be inserted directly into your chart.
Yes. The AI panel reads the Key field from your song's Details and uses it as context for all suggestions. The current key is shown at the top of the assistant panel and updates live as you change it. You can also adjust the style, instrument, mood, and length using the dropdown controls in the panel.
After a result appears, click the Insert button to paste the ChordPro content directly at the cursor position in your editor. Click Copy if you'd prefer to paste it manually. You can also click individual chord chips to insert a single chord at the cursor.
The AI Chord + Lead Assistant is available on paid plans. Visit the Pricing page to see which plan includes it. Free plan users will see an upgrade prompt when they try to use the assistant.
Click your avatar or name at the bottom of the sidebar, or go to Profile → Edit. You can update your nickname, instrument, bio, and location. Click Save to apply changes.
Go to the Pricing page and click Cancel Plan. Your paid plan will remain active until the end of the current billing period, then automatically revert to the free plan. Your songs and data are never deleted on cancellation.
Go to Profile → Edit and scroll to the bottom. Click Delete Account and confirm. This is permanent — all your songs, live sets, group memberships, and data are removed immediately and cannot be recovered.
Chords must be placed inline with the lyric text they sit above, not on a separate line. For example:
[G]Amazing [C]grace how [G]sweet the [D]sound
If chords are on their own line without lyrics, they'll appear as a standalone chord row. Use the Preview tab in the editor to see exactly how the chart renders. Checking the ChordPro format against a working example usually resolves alignment issues.
On mobile, the song editor uses tabs — Details, Editor, and Preview. If the page looks blank, tap the Details tab at the top to load the content. This ensures the correct panel is shown. Try a hard refresh (pull to refresh or reload the page) if the tabs don't respond.
Check the following:
The song editor does not auto-save — you must click the Save button (or press the keyboard shortcut shown in the toolbar) to save your work. Navigating away before saving will lose unsaved changes.
If Save appears to fail, check your internet connection. The button will show an error if the save didn't go through.
